• To ensure effective and efficient service delivery, the Programme is divided into the following directorates:-

The Directorate manages Tourism Development and provides support. It plays an oversight role to Public Entities funded by the Department. This is further broken down into two sub-directorates.

The objective of this sub-directorate is to ensure the availability of diverse tourism opportunities that promote the province as a tourism destination by improving tourism opportunities.

Tourism Development has established formal structures where district municipalities are involved to ensure eradication of duplication and/or overlaps. It has introduced a more focused, integrated approach.

SUB–DIRECTORATE: TOURISM COMPLIANCE AND SUPPORT

This sub-directorate provides an oversight and support role to the public entities funded by the Department with a view to ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation.

It is also responsible for development of the Provincial Tourism Policy and for review of the existing tourism-related legislation.

DIRECTORATE: SPECIAL PROJECTS

This directorate is mainly responsible for the handling of unique projects that act across all functions within the department. Projects newly identified by the MEC or Head of Department are conceived and piloted within this directorate.
